New Blog!

Hey there! I've decided to continue blogging at a different blog. The MEXT archives and some of my travel posts will remain here, but I'll be moving some stuff over. Hope to see you there!

I Finally Get My Hands on Haagen Daz's Mochi Icecream

I was going to blog about my new apartment today, but I finally got my hands on the Haagen Daz Kinako and Kuromitsu Mochi Ice-cream and I just had to share it with you guys. But first:

And I hope that all of us who are observing Lent have had a good start (I probably should not show this to my sister because she's giving up tidbits for Lent).

Anyway, I don't know if you remember, but last year I just could not get my hands on the Kinako and Kuromitsu mochi ice-cream (I got my hands on the other one but this is the one I wanted). So today, while I was surfing the internet, I found that the mochi ice-cream has been released again (yesterday) and immediately rushed to the nearest conbini.

I wasn't really expecting much, because it was continually sold out last year, but LOOK WHAT I FOUND:

I immediately bought two.

(And when my friend asked me "are you planning to get them?" I had to come clean).

And since I bought it, I had to eat it rightaway. I did wait for about 10 minutes, to let the mochi soften, but that was about it.

Isn't it beautful?
It looks a little unassuming, but if you dig into it, you'll find that:

It's delicious!

Everything blended together extremely well, although I would urge extreme caution when eating it because just breathing the wrong way will make kinako powder fly all over the place. The kuromitsu is hidden within the ice-cream and at the bottom of the cup, so you'll have to dig all the way down to get everything in one go.

Oh, and the longer this was sitting on the kotatsu, the better it got because the mochi got softer and softer. The only thing is... the ice cream started to melt. So it's really a balance of finding the perfect moment and then eating it all in one go :p

And now I know one more advantage to living in the countryside - much fewer people are going to compete with you for the mochi ice-cream!
